MDPerm is Hiring an Audiologist Near Goose Creek, SC

Audiologist for Naval Health Clinic Charleston NHCC- Goose Creek, SC Part-time position approx. 16 hours per week, up to 20 hours per week.

Education : Graduate from an educational program accredited by the American Speech- Language Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech Pathology (CAA) or the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE).

Certification : Possess a certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in the field of Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA- CCCA) or certification from the American Board of Audiology of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).

Experience : Minimum 2 years experience as a licensed Audiologist Licensure : Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Core Audiologist Duties : Administer audiology tests to all types of patients. Identify, assess, and manage auditory, balance, and other neural systems.

Provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of the hearing and balance mechanisms including intraoperative monitoring of the cranial nerves, cerumen removal, cochlear implant assessment and management, posturography, and other advanced balance mechanism evaluations .

Review accompanying consultation forms and records, independently determine appropriate tests, adapt test techniques, and utilize clinical judgment based on audiological and psychological precepts.

Conduct routine tests, to include air conduction, bone conduction, speech reception thresholds and speech discrimination, including high intensity speech discrimination testing.

Counsel beneficiaries as required regarding problem(s), interpret results and provide guidance and advice on educational and training needs.

Provide narrative summary of each patient to the referring physician and other interested agencies. Duties Specific- Audiologist : Provide a full range of audiologist services Administer audiological tests for active-duty personnel and their dependents and DoD civilian employees enrolled in the Hearing Conservation Program.

Conduct special Audiological tests as necessary to assist the otologist in the medical diagnosis of site of lesion to differentiate between cochlear and retro cochlear pathology.

Independently determine which tests are indicated. Perform Electrophysiological tests such as Auditory Brainstem Response, Electrocochleography and Otoacoustic Emissions when indicated and appropriate.

Conduct Hearing Aid Evaluation. Administer formal objective hearing aid evaluations and informal subjective selection of hearing aids to both children and adults.

Recommend for purchase the instrument, which is most effectively suited to the patient’s needs, orient patient to hearing aid use, and initiate a proper attitude for rehabilitation by means of an appropriate psychological approach.

Maintain area audiometric equipment pool; request required equipment as needed. Selection of Hearing Aids. Objectively evaluate hearing aids by administering audiological tests to compare the performance of several hearing aids carefully selected by the audiologist as most appropriate for the type and degree of hearing loss;

determine based on test results and clinical judgment which aids are most effective. Administer computerized real ear-canal probe microphone measurements providing precision hearing aid fittings.

Arrange for issue of selected aid to active and retired personnel and recommend purchase of aid to dependents. Follow the Audiology Division Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for processing of referrals to fit hearing aids by commercial hearing aid specialists, and recommendation of purchase of aid after subsequent testing and orientation for all patients not eligible for military issue.

Aural Habilitation. Provide hearing aid orientation, hearing conservation techniques, and individual adjustment counseling.

Immittance Audiometry. Measure acoustic characteristics of ear to assist in the diagnosis of middle ear and sensorineural pathologies.

Middle ear acoustic measurements of the eustachian tube function and monitoring of acoustic reflex shall also be performed to aid the otolaryngologist in ontological diagnosis.

Prepare summary of the measurements and interpretation of results. Pediatric Testing. Provide testing of pediatric patients to include play audiometry and conditioned orientation reflex audiometry.

Utilize knowledge of the development of auditory systems and psychological maturation when administering audiometry to newborns.

Recognize and report symptoms of problems in addition to hearing loss in pediatric patients to include emotional disturbances and brain function.

Recognize signs of social inadequacy, shyness, withdrawal, depression etc. to judge the validity of hearing tests in older children.

Counsel parents as required regarding child’s problem, interpret results, and provide guidance and advice on educational and training needs.

Provide narrative summary of each child to referring physician and other interested agencies. Hours : 730am-430pm Mondays and Wednesdays, 16-20 hours per week MDPerm is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
