The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.
Participates in providing educational training courses and in-services to healthcare staff. Impacts the competency of healthcare staff related to life support.
Key Job Functions
Participates in providing American Heart Association courses.
Presents lectures and facilitates skills and evaluation stations for courses provided by the Life Support Training Center.
Coordinates Basic Life Support, Health Care Provide (BLS HCP) course and maintains course documents.
Performs skill check-offs for completion of on-line certification courses.
Participates in mock codes and supplemental in-services for identified performance deficiencies.
Maintains, transports and troubleshoots equipment needed to provide courses.
Participates in community training and programs for the prevention of heart attack and stroke..
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Successful completion of a Texas Department of State Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Completion of an approved school of vocational practical nursing or relevant healthcare occupation program.
Experience
Required: Two years of experience in a related healthcare occupation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Certified as American Heart Association Basic Life Support instructor within 90 days of job entry.
Preferred: Successful completion of a Texas Department of State Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Completion of an approved school of vocational practical nursing or relevant healthcare occupation program.
Certification/Licensure
Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Certified as American Heart Association Basic Life Support instructor within 90 days of job entry
