Overview

Tyler Union in Anniston, AL is seeking a Process Engineer for our Anniston Facility.

Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc. has a century of success in manufacturing and selling ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes for the waterworks industry.

Responsibilities

Summary Objective:

Design, optimize, and improve processes. Lead effort to identify and reduce costs through standards and system development. Success in this position requires the development of collaborative relationships and delivery of measurable results. Spends most of the time on the manufacturing floor working with the hourly workforce as well as the management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Safety and Environmental Management Programs. Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvement initiatives with a focus on cost savings. Lead product and process improvement projects.
  • Research and collect data to analyze areas for design processes for optimizing productivity.
  • Develop workflow, work station, and equipment improvement recommendations.
  • Create and improve standards to enable achievement of performance targets for production lines.
  • Compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Utilize technical skills and operational experience to develop technical solutions for business problems that involve tooling, methods, equipment, material replenishment, process controls, error-proofing, overall equipment efficiency, and others.
  • Track record of success in developing solutions to complex problems.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing manufacturing processes, address gaps where defined processes are required, identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze and make readily available metrics or other KPIs to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Utilize root cause analysis methodologies to identify the underlying causes of production issues, deviations, and quality concerns.
  • Develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to address these issues.
  • Create learning programs to coach and train salaried and hourly team members.
  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive SOPs for various manufacturing processes to ensure consistency and compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Evaluate historical processes for improvements.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a foundry-related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations required, with a strong preference for experience in metal forming and metal machining processes.
  • Proficiency in process modeling, data analysis, statistical tools, and process mapping techniques preferred.
  • Background in root cause failure analysis preferred.
