The Dual Director of Sales is responsible for the sales strategies and functions of the hotel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: POSITION PURPOSE:The Dual Director of Sales will manage the sales departments at the Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel and Courtyard Newark Downtown, aiming to maximize revenue and surpass budget expectations. The ideal candidate for this position is a standout go-getter with a proven track record of creative promotion concepts and successful selling techniques. The ideal candidate must be a highly communicative, meticulously organized team player who possesses a positive, problem-solving attitude and a passion for innovation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for coordinating, managing, and preparing all event documentation and coordinating with Sales, property departments, and customers to ensure a consistent, high level of service throughout pre-event, event, and post-event phases of property events. This position primarily handles clients of high complexity. Recognizes opportunities by up-selling and offering enhancements, with a large focus on profitability. Proactively solicit and book group events, meetings, businesstransient and room blocks to enable the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals in sleeping rooms and food and beverages. Send proposals on all leads that fit the profile of the property and actively follow through to convert from proposal to definite status.Manage, lead, and train the on-property selling team.Soliciting and negotiating new accounts through telemarketing, direct sales calls, sales blitzes, hotel tours, and aggressive internet prospecting.Nurturing and growing client relationships through upselling and proactive customer service, including sales calls, entertainment, and FAM trips.Planning, organizing, and managing sales aspects of events and room blocks from conception, including contract negotiations, contract composition, profitability, site visits, and re-solicitation. Ensuring MCR Sales SOPS are followed and completed accurately.Generating monthly SMART plans and aiding with the preparation of sales reports for the sales team. Identifying and acting on business opportunities through a constant pursuit of knowledge about market trends, competition, and customers.Maintaining an accurate, organized, and up-to-date file management system in order to quickly and effectively meet clients' needs; utilizing Delphi to trace all daily sales activities and correspondence with clients to ensure prompt responses.Prepare sales, event and billing documentation and coordinate with property departments and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event phases.Developing key relationships within the community to strengthen and expand the customer base.Talking and listening to clients, demonstrating excellent sales skills by knowing and selling productsin a professional and courteous manner.Exemplifying customer service by interacting with guests before, during and after all events in a professional, courteous, and ethical manner to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.Collaborating with the MCR operations team to develop and implement cutting-edge, comprehensive plans for groups and events.Displays leadership by managing all sales efforts for the hotel: leading by example and mentoring team members to implement smart strategies effectively.Must be able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guests and associates torespond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required.Working to continuously improve customer service by integrating obtained feedback and personal judgment into action plans for hotel sales and event managers. Understands the overall market (e.g., competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand) and how to sell against them.Assigns definite groups to events team and manages all property leads to ensure clients receive a high level service and quick and accurate responses to all inquiries. Leads team to review events to proactively avoid potential service challenges, while manager profitable pieces of business Develop working relationships with outside vendors and establish prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and increase additional revenue opportunities for the property. RequirementsMinimum of five (5) Years of Hotel Sales Experience.Management Experience (type): Director.Four-year college degree preferred.5 Minimum Years of Leadership Experience in a Full-Service HotelHighly professional presentation and communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to address executive-level constituents.Demonstrate the ability to perform critical analysis.Must be able to manage people, including giving directions and delegating responsibilities, and be a culture ambassador.Must demonstrate outstanding customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.Must be entrepreneurial, nimble, creative, resourceful, and willing to try new things.Must be able to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends when needed.Onsite.Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office and Hotel Sales and Catering Platforms: CI/TY, SFAWeb, FOSSE, Salesforce-Delphi. PHYSICAL WORKING DEMANDS:To perform the duties of this job, an individual must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively using the English Language. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (3-4 hours at a time). The employee is frequently required to use hands for feeling objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required to this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to enter information into a computer. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:General Office: The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. (Phone ringing, and heavy communication between co-workers and customers). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods (3-4 hours at a time). The employee is frequently required to use hands for typing, 10-key operation, telephone dialing, feeling objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to talk and hear. Travel may be required.
