We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineering Team Lead for Gateway Project GRAIL to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

If selected you will:

  • The Systems Engineering Team Lead will be managing the SE activities of the Gateway Program GRAIL Laboratory
  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
  • Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
  • Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process
  • Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation
  • Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance
  • Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
  • Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses
  • Work and present schedule and progress to customers
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.
  • 10 years' of relevant experience in systems engineering
  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model based systems engineering
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
  • Experience with NASA processes
  • Knowledge and experience with DOORS Next Generation
