Unit Description:

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of 54 cancer centers designated as a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute. With 16 locations throughout Michigan and Ohio and proudly a part of McLaren Health Care, Karmanos is the largest provider of cancer care and research in Michigan.

The Medical/Surgery/Oncology unit has 11 private beds with a maximum capacity of 15.

The Medical/Surgery/Oncology nurse cares for patients with GYN oncology, neuro-oncology, and genitourinary oncology diagnoses that require surgical intervention or are experiencing medical complications from the disease. Chemotherapy for these conditions is administered by the IV Therapy RN.

The Medical/Surgery/Oncology team uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.

Qualifications - External

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• BSN preferred.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• Licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the state of Michigan.
