The SNAPS SA (Strategic Network of Advocates for the Prevention of Suicide and Substance Abuse) Coordinator will administer SNAPS SA Coalition meetings, promote inter-agency collaboration, provide liaison services to partnering boards and coalitions, develops and coordinates public awareness activities to notify communities of issues of underage drinking and prescription drug misuse and abuse, conducts research regarding related trends and regulatory developments related to those issues, works closely with program evaluators, reviews and updates current community needs assessment, maintains records, prepares reports, maintains and monitors continued quality and tracks outcomes in accordance with program design (logic model) and other duties as assigned. Works under the direct supervision of the Community Services Director with high latitude for the use of innovative and independent judgment. This is a grant funded position and dependent on the availability/renewal of funds.

Coordinates, organizes and builds support among required agencies and organizations by engaging them in science or research-based prevention strategies for reducing underage drinking, prescriptiondrug misuse and abuse as well as DWI related issues.

Raises awareness of substance abuse issues, problems and solutions through community engagement at county-wide events, chapter houses, senior centers, veterans groups and local businesses to gather and present data to key stakeholders and cultural groups that can include PowerPoint technology, geographical information systems, and shall inform stakeholders regarding the needs assessment, capacity, planning, implementation and evaluation plans by any means appropriate to deliver the message of local alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse consequences.

Assist in the development and implementation of substance abuse prevention programsand initiatives including the New Mexico Community Survey (NMCS), Responsible Beverage Service Model Merchant Education and SYNAR Tobacco Merchant Education.

Provide technical assistance regarding alcohol, substance and tobacco abuse to schools, law enforcement and community programs (e.g. health fairs, presentations, community/business education).

Reviews literature and research on DWI, underage drinking and prescription misuse and abuse prevention, and works closely with program evaluator to manage data and information utilized in mid-year and final reporting.

 Prepares and submits all required monthly, quarterly and final reports and associated billing invoices to OSAP via the BHSDSTAR billing system.
