McKibben Boating Center of Lake Placid is Hiring a Marine Technician Near Lake Placid, FL

*PAY BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFACATIONS

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled marine mechanic to join McKibben Boating Center of Lake Placid. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on a variety of outboard engines, with a particular focus on Mercury, Yamaha, and Suzuki outboards. From performing basic oil changes to diagnosing complex mechanical problems, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine mechanics and possess a high level of technical expertise.

Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, and water pump replacement, on outboard engines. Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with outboard engines, including electrical and fuel system issues. Install new engines, steering systems, and other boat components as necessary. Provide exceptional customer service, including communicating with customers about repairs and maintenance, and offering recommendations for preventative maintenance. Accurately complete service records and warranty claims, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and new technologies, attending training sessions and manufacturer-sponsored classes as needed.

Qualifications: Minimum of two years of experience working as a marine mechanic, with a particular focus on outboard engines. Strong diagnostic skills, including experience using computer diagnostic tools. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with excellent time-management skills. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to customers in a clear and concise manner. Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds, and work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Mercury, Yamaha, and Suzuki outboards. Certification from one or more engine manufacturers, such as Yamaha or Mercury. Experience working in a dealership or service center environment. Additional mechanical skills, such as experience working on diesel engines or inboard/outboard engines.
