Job Summary: Places drug orders to wholesalers and manufacturers. Checks in drug merchandise and processes invoices. Orders supplies from the hospitals purchasing department. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, prepares IV medications for patients and makes batches of IV medications with required aseptic technique and in accordance with all USP 797 provisions. Performs clerical duties as required. Keeps pricing of supplies up to date. Maintains adequate inventory of IV medication batches and all other medications and supplies. Assists in conducting annual inventory when required. Files controlled drug records and other essential documents. Performs all required daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of IV room and all equipment and supplies located in the cleanroom suite. Perform environmental sampling monthly and as needed. Participate in semi-annual media fill and gowning test. Performs all daily environmental checks and records measures in appropriate logs. Wears hospital scrubs, dedicated shoes, and appropriate cleanroom garb as required per policies/protocols and USP 797 regulations.
Educational/Licensing: High school degree or equivalent required, some college education preferred. Oregon State Certified License required. Completion of a technician certification program desired. PCTB or ACPE accredited Sterile Compounding CSPT certification desired.
Qualifications: Minimum of two years hospital/sterile compounding experience preferred. Completion of a technician certification program desired. PCTB or ACPE accredited Sterile Compounding CSPT certification desired. Must be able to stand for significant periods of time. Must be able to perform moderate lifting functions and push somewhat heavy carts over carpeted surfaces. Must possess knowledge of good sterile technique. Must comply with all personnel hygiene and gowning requirements as outlined in USP 797.
