Description

Join our team at Mendocino Community Health Center (MCHC) as we seek a dynamic Clinical Application Analyst! At MCHC, we prioritize enhancing clinical operations efficiency and effectiveness, and you can be a key player in achieving this goal.

As a Clinical Applications Analyst, you will be instrumental in optimizing our Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Your responsibilities will include providing comprehensive support and training to various staff members, including Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, LCSWs, and Nursing staff.

In addition to your role in training and support, you will serve as a knowledgeable liaison between MCHC and OCHIN, ensuring seamless integration of Epic system functionalities with our operational needs. Together, we aim to streamline clinical workflows and elevate patient care delivery.

Duties include:

  • Collaborate with OCHIN Help Desk for complex issues
  • Provide daily support to Epic application users through troubleshooting, coaching, and training
  • Collaborates with other training personnel in planning, documenting, and training of all staff on the EHR.
  • Maintain system setup specific to MCHC, including preference lists, Smart Phrases, and Provider Master Files
  • Manage error queues and In Basket pools established in EPIC in collaboration with department managers and subject matter experts
  • Ensures that all current EHR workflows are documented in a standard and easy to read format.
  • Works to continuously refine and improve processes in training and EHR workflows.
  • Provides high quality training to all staff members being trained in the use of EHR applications and documents the training utilizing the most current MCHC training tracking mechanism.
  • Collaborate with OCHIN to test new features and upgrades, coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Create, modify, and expire user accounts and user groups, ensuring appropriate security settings
  • Attend monthly OCHIN ESA meetings for information sharing, continuous training, and best practice discussions
  • Collaborate with OCHIN and advisory workgroups to optimize system use through the implementation of new features and upgrades
  • Takes the initiative to keep up to date on regulatory EHR requirements, to ensure application and workflows are consistent with documentation and reporting needs.
  • Completes special assignments as directed.
  • Assist in defining and designing queries, ad hoc reports, and data exports
  • Apply knowledge of the Epic EHR and Epic tools to enhance clinical workflows and efficiency
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability and desire to learn to resolve specialized and advanced technology problems
  • Ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions
  • Provide tier-2 support of application incidents reported through the help desk
  • Perform daily monitoring of applications in production use
  • Ability to develop new skills and teach others
  • Navigate SQL for reporting and support needs

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Information Management, or a directly related field, and four years of relevant experience in a professional environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties.
  • Must have EPIC experience
  • Technical proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and webinar platforms like Zoom.
  • A working knowledge of report writing tools, including Crystal Reports and Business Objects.
  • Experience with JIRA or a similar ticketing system.
  • Training experience in a clinical or healthcare environment, involving both providers and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications, EPIC experience preferred.
  • Experience working with a population health platform (i2i, Innovaccer, eagle dream etc) 
  • Experience working with OCHIN
