McCracken Bag & Label Co. is Hiring a Quality Control Officer - 2nd Shift Near Chicago, IL

Description

Job Summary:

McCracken Bag & Label company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Quality Control Officer to join our team on the 2nd Shift. As a key member of our team, the Quality Control Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is producing high-quality products that meet our company's standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in quality control or a related field. In this role, the Quality Control Officer will be responsible for monitoring and approving the pulling of customer samples for Quality Control Record Keeping from all equipment, conducting spot-checks on manufacturing quality to ensure entire runs meet company quality standards, and working closely with the leadership team to identify root causes and resolve quality issues, whether external (customer RAs) or internal. Additionally, the Quality Control Officer will maintain accurate records of all quality control activities and continuously improve quality control processes and procedures to ensure the highest level of quality is maintained at all times 

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Ensuring the quality of printed materials meets the high standards set by both the customer and the company.
  • Performing visual inspections to check for any defects that fall outside of the specified requirements. To do this, you will need to check proofs and accurately color-match Pantone color books, previous samples, and acetate against the printed products.
  • Monitoring packaging requirements, including boxes, labels, and the number of products per box.
  • Ensuring that the packaging meets the customer's expectations and is of high quality.
  • Working closely with press operators, finishing operators, and supervisors to resolve any issues that arise quickly.
  • Reporting any defective products to the relevant people as soon as possible so that corrective measures can be taken promptly.
  • Conducting a final inspection of finished products and monitoring the rewinding process to ensure that customer requirements are met.
  • Paying close attention to detail and ensuring that the finished product is of the highest quality possible. 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of quality control processes and procedures
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred
  • Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills 
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
