McCarthy Building is Hiring a Preconstruction Manager - Renewable Energy Near Phoenix, AZ

McCarthy’s Renewable Energy Group is currently looking for an Estimating Manager with expertise in the Solar market. Solar expertise is not mandatory; individuals with a strong fundamental knowledge of productivity-based estimating will be considered, but Solar expertise is preferred. This Manager participates in all aspects of our design-phase services process from review of RFP packages, soliciting and negotiating pricing, estimating & contracting the work. In addition, this Manager will lead teams & guide strategy when it comes to the pursuit, design & procurement of work. This position can be based out of any of the following McCarthy offices: Phoenix, AZ or St. Louis, MO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a pursuit team to develop strategy and respond to RFP’s from clients.
  • Lead a pursuit team in the estimating of turnkey renewable energy projects, provide oversight to ensure timely completion and accuracy of estimates
  • Lead a pursuit team to ensure alignment internally and with 3rd parties (i.e. subcontractors, vendors, etc.) on scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements & document any clarifications
  • Review of commercial and technical contract documents (i.e. Scope of Work, Testing, etc.) to develop proposed edits. Leads negotiation with client & subcontractors.
  • Provide support to our Business Development team as necessary to maintain relationships with our existing client base.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary.
  • Conduct reviews of milestone design documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.
  • Lead the final assembly of cost estimates for presentation to clients.
  • Collect and organize cost information & key metrics for future reference.
  • Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed.
  • Builds relationships with subcontractors and vendors to obtain a competitive advantage for McCarthy.
  • Attends industry events and represents McCarthy to the industry in a professional capacity.
  • Stay up to date with the latest estimating technology and techniques.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 3-5 years of equivalent experience required.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of the estimating process & project delivery methods.
  • An understanding of detailed, productivity-based estimating including labor reporting, wage build-up, burdens, equipment/material pricing & labor markets.
  • Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as OST and BIM related software.
  • Excellent computer skills, and proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy’s core values.
