MBS Engineering Inc. is a private general Engineering Contractor located in San Ramon, CA. MBS specializes in commercial construction projects working with wet and dry utilities, concrete & asphalt, as well as performing EPC services for utility companies (PG&E). Our team is experiencing tremendous growth and we are looking for a Lead Estimator to join our team. DESCRIPTION:
MBS Engineering Inc. (MBS) is a professional, licensed A- General Engineering and C-36 Plumbing Contractor. MBS capabilities are construction of underground natural gas lines and electrical conduit. MBS provides all the services listed below, in addition to working on projects of similar nature on a weekly basis in these areas:
• Trenching, Hydrovac Excavation, Vacuum Excavation and Potholing
• Utility Certified Gas Pipe Installation and Fusion
• Hot Tap, Line Stop and Bypass Services
• Gas Regulator and Gas Meter Installations
• Gas Leak Survey and Emergency Repair
• Asphalt & Concrete Repairs, Sealcoating, & Replacement
• Underground Construction Projects – Joint Trench, Gas, Water, Sewer, Storm Drain
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Estimator must be initiative-taking, energetic collaborator who can performs a variety estimating tasks in support of MBS Engineering services. All employees of MBS are expected to uphold and exhibit the company’s core values of Respect, Commitment, and Integrity. MBS has a talented team atmosphere, meaning all company members look to help anywhere they can to finish a job and be successful.
• The Estimator is responsible for all estimating forms and formats for both the estimates and final bids. They are responsible for the development of pricing strategies and specific purchasing methodology for major projects.
• It is the responsibility of the estimator to develop a working relationship with subcontractor principals and suppliers.
• Estimate key scopes on major projects and lead estimates on smaller projects. Able to bring on clients and seek out work.
• Develop strategies to gain a bid advantage on their estimates. Ability to either run the project or pass off to project manager/foreman for execution.
• Identify risk and address during the procurement process
• Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project
• Recognize project constraints or needed upgrades
• Deliver a consistent and well-defined estimates
• Ensure a complete scope has been captured during the estimating process
• Able to survey and price all company-performed work items (pipe, meters, excavation work, concrete, asphalt, building specialties and other related items)
• Conduct estimate reviews and participate in “Bid Walks” on projects throughout California as needed.
• Ensure that estimates meet all requirements
• Looking for an estimator to cover our Asphalt/Concrete Division, but opportunity to also estimate projects on our underground utility side.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A 4-year degree in civil, structural engineering, or construction management, or 5 years of equivalent work experience without a degree
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating for commercial construction projects
• Ability to pass Background Checks for Badging/Security Clearances
• Valid Driver’s License, Good Record, and Ability to attend Bid Walks
• Must possess good communications skills and be detail oriented
• Walking and/or standing throughout the day
• Superb customer service track record
• Strong math skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Team Player
• Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages of the estimating process and construction process
