SUMMARY

Solicits Mercedes Sprinter parts and service business from assigned accounts through personal and phone contacts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Visits assigned customers.
• Prospects for new customers.
• Communicates parts orders to counter people. Advises whether status is stock or emergency.
• Checks with customers to ensure that delivery date of non-stock items is acceptable before ordering.
• Reviews any special orders with the parts manager and obtains his approval.
• Obtains parts manager's approval for any special pricing.
• Advises driver on delivery instructions.
• Follows up on parts orders to ensure that customers have been served properly.
• Acts as a public relations liaison for the dealership.
• Assists all retail and shop customers in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
• Informs customers of companion part requirements and specials, and ensures that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
• Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
• Provides high level of service to internal and external customers.
• Pulls and fills orders from stock.
• Assists in receiving parts in shipping area.
• Helps maintain parts storage in orderly condition.
• Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
• Locates out-of-stock parts from outside source and submits an emergency order, if necessary.
• Notifies the customer or service advisor when special ordered parts have been received.
• Pulls orders for delivery to customers and technicians, making sure all parts are tagged with RO number.
• Follows up on back-ordered parts.
• Replenishes assigned inventory as needed.
• Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.
• Ensures that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
• Ensures that all customers receive their copy of the invoice.
• Makes sure all internal requests for parts are billed on the service RO.
• Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original RO number is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
• Keeps orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, and special order parts.
• Keeps front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
• Cleans computer terminals and printers daily.
• Participates in all training programs that are made available.
• Keeps current on new products and product updates.
• Participates with parts manager in maintaining a lost sales tracking program. 
• Maintains professional appearance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; or three to six months related experience and/or training
