Position Description

The Facility Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks to keep the building clean and professional in nature. It is essential that the facility is safe and properly maintained. The Custodian carries out minor repairs as necessary and, when qualified, also serves as a part of Mazda of Clearwater’s security and medical response team at the dealership.

This position provides full-time and part-time opportunities. This is not a managerial position.

Specific Duties:

• Clean the showroom, service drive, halls, break/lunchrooms, vending, and customer areas.
• Clean all windows, glass doors, and both glass partitions and panels throughout dealership using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures; dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. Sweep, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Clean all signs, posters, service monitors, fans, and vending machines.
• Maintain hot beverage area by cleaning counter surfaces and restocking coffee and related supplies as needed.
• Mop and cleans customer waiting area, break/lunchrooms, halls and both the customer and shop bathrooms.
• Clean and sanitize drinking fountains and bathrooms and restock paper supplies as needed.
• Empty and clean lunchroom refrigerator once a week.
• Empty and clean all trash receptacles, inside and outside.
• Perform routine building maintenance in such a manner as to minimize interruption of customers or employees.
• Clean oil storage tanks and other equipment in the mechanical room, according to procedures.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors, checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created, closing and locking windows, walking the facility to inspect for hazards, ensuring exterior site lighting, and that all interior lighting, except that which is used for safety, is operational.
• Maintain the integrity of each entrance or egress designated for public use with regard to safe access free of obstructions or impediments, and notes the operation of each door and reports, in writing, any problems to the Facility Manager;
• Conduct groundskeeping/landscaping tasks, both aesthetic and functional, to maintain the outdoor space in and around the dealership using mowers or hand/power trimmers; and
• Mow or trim lawns or shrubbery, using mowers or hand or power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds/lots. Cultivate flowers, water flower beds, and remove debris.
• Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Understand and comply with OSHA Right-to-Know and other federal, state, and local regulations.

• Use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
• Complete additional/other tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager and/or Quality Control and Operations Manager.

Requirements:

• Maintain a current status for required Mazda Certification(s) and ensure the courses listed are no more than one year old:
  • Dealer Operations Professionals Certification; and
  • Ultimate Mazda Experience (UMX) – UMX Service Standards.

• Wear assigned clothing/uniform each day and ensure all clothing and accessories are mainlined in optimal condition; and
• Participate in all company surveys, performance assessments, and peer reviews.
