Description

Mayvin is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our Business Development team in crafting compelling proposals for Department of Defense and Federal Civilian agencies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop winning proposals. The Technical Writer - Proposal Specialist will be responsible for researching, writing, and editing proposals, ensuring that they are well-structured, persuasive, and compliant with all requirements. 

Must be a US Citizen.

Must be eligible for a DOD Secret clearance.

This position is 5 days a week working on-site at our headquarters in Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities: 

  • Research and Analysis. Conduct in-depth research to understand project requirements, client needs, and proposal evaluation criteria. Analyze Request for Proposals (RFPs) and other solicitation documents to identify key deliverables and evaluation criteria. 
  • Proposal Development. Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and other team members to develop proposal outlines, content plans, and win themes. Write and edit proposal sections, including executive summaries, technical approaches, methodologies, staffing plans, and past performance references. 
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that proposals comply with all RFP requirements, formatting guidelines, and submission instructions. Conduct thorough reviews of proposal drafts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency of messaging. Verify that proposals address all evaluation criteria and showcase the company's qualifications and capabilities effectively.
  • Graphic Design and Visualization: Work closely with graphic designers to incorporate visuals, diagrams, and other visual aids into proposals. Ensure that visual elements enhance the overall readability and impact of the proposals, supporting key messages and technical content. 
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain a repository of proposal content for future reference. 
  • Collaborate with business development, operations, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information to develop compelling proposal content that highlights our company's strengths, capabilities, and value proposition. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate strategy sessions, and review meetings to align team members and stakeholders on proposal objectives, messaging, and win themes. 
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of proposal documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, clarity, and compliance with client requirements and company standards. 
  • Develop and create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that effectively communicates complex technical information to a diverse audience.


Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in proposal writing or related roles supporting Department of Defense and Federal Civilian agencies. 
  • Proven experience in technical writing, proposal development, or a similar role. 
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and research abilities, with the capacity to synthesize complex information into clear and compelling proposals. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • Familiarity with proposal development tools and techniques, such as Shipley or APMP methodologies, is a plus. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.
