Mayville Engineering Company Inc. is Hiring a Quality Tech (Macro testing) - Byron Center/1st shift Near Center, MI

Overview

Our growing company is seeking to hire a Quality Tech (Macro testing) for our Byron Center, Michigan facility. This position directly conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of MIG Weld process coordinating the collection, preparation and measurement of all macro weld samples from in process production as well as first pieces samples for job set ups.

**Work schedule = 4 - 10 hr. days, Mon. - Thurs., 4am to 2pm**

**Fri. and Sat. are days for overtime, scheduled as needed**

Responsibilities

  • Performs timely and accurate inspection of Mig welds according to internal and customer specific requirements.
  • Cuts Mig weld samples using a saw then grinds/polishes and etches to prepare the samples for macro analysis.
  • Analyzes Mig welds utilizing microscope camera and Dino-Capture software.
  • Communicates effectively with Weld Technicians for all required adjustments.
  • Completes weld quality reports and manages retention as required.
  • Escalates findings as appropriate.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies level for the macro activity.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

GED or high school diploma. Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with practical mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret basic technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
