Registered Nurse - Health Promotion

Hours of Performance:

• Services will be required Monday through Friday, excluding the day of observance of federal holidays, between the hours of 0700 and 2100 for an 8.5 hour shift with an uncompensated 30 minute meal-break. Occasionally, Saturday services may be required between the hours of 0700 and 2100. In no instance will an individual contractor HCW be required to provide services in excess of 40 hours per week.

Duties:

• Perform triage; patient assessment and monitoring; use patient monitoring and treatment equipment; execute physicians’ orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice; document patient care and observations; and provide patient emotional support.
• Provide treatment and discharge instructions upon patient release.
• Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status. Use assessment data in the development of priorities, expected outcomes and interventions.
• Ensure areas are stocked and properly equipped.
• Develop an assessment plan to identify patient/family learning needs.
• Identify patient/significant other learning needs and implement appropriate measures to meet identified needs.
• Initiate health reports and interpret medical literature.
• Initiate and maintain community partnerships to develop a network of resources for patients being seen.
• Implement crisis intervention techniques for patient/family.
• Implement multilevel approach for health promotion and risk reduction.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform physical exam and health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
• Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Perform nursing services identified in the TO.
• Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Education/Degree: Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or in lieu of graduation from an ACEN or CCNE Accredited program, the HCW may be a graduate from a State Board of Nursing or accredited nursing program.
• Experience: One year of registered nurse experience after graduation.
• Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as Registered Nurse.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support accredited from the American Heart Association (AHA)
