Responsibilities

Program Overview

Launched by Youth Villages, Memphis Allies is a bold collaborative initiative, bringing together community groups and resources to reduce gun violence and create safer neighborhoods and more opportunity for adults and their families.

Position Overview

Our Community Relations Coordinator job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and strengthening relationships with other community organizations, businesses, and ministries
  • Educating the community on the Memphis Allies initiative
  • Collaborating with key local stake holders involved directly or indirectly with reducing gun violence
  • Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote the Memphis Allies initiative.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required. Some degrees that can be considered include but are not limited to: Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Education, Psychology and Social Work.
  • Experience in coordinating events
  • Experience working with community organizations and collaborating with external customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related writing and presentation software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
