The Role: Maxar is actively looking to add a Strategic Communications Advisor to one of our teams supporting an established and growing Intelligence Community mission. In this role, you will work independently and as part of a cross-functional team comprised of a range of technical experts and customer leadership supporting some of the nation's most challenging problems. You will work closely with customer leadership to develop critical narratives for internal and external recipients including ODNI, US Congress, and multiple IC partners. You will have the opportunity to take the customer's cutting-edge ideas from concept to reality through effective written and verbal communication. Your strong writing skills will be utilized in internal and external publications including briefings, talking points and key messages, annual Congressional deliverables, newsletters and more. Typical daily duties include: Developing and staffing briefing material, annual deliverables, and reading material intended for the greater Intelligence Community. Develop a communications plan that identifies at a minimum the key messages, audience(s), distribution methods and the associated tools and tactics that will be used to promote the initiative, along with key performance indicators (KPI) that can provide detailed measurement of communications activities. Develop briefing and reading content for partners/stakeholders to share through multiple channels and provide writing and editing expertise for a variety of documents in support of office communication activities. Engaging with technical staff and leadership team members to extract and interpret critical program information to a wider, sometimes non-technical, audience. Must Have Qualifications: Active TS/SCI security clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph. Ability to work on-site at the customer office in Reston, VA. Ability to work with senior leaders, respond to rapidly changing priorities, pay strict attention to detail, and adapt writing style to meet varying needs of stakeholders at various levels. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers. Possession of excellent verbal and written skills, including developing briefings and presenting them to internal and external audiences. Ability to communicate highly technical analyses at a level comprehensible to laymen and senior-level government representatives. Bachelor’s degree with six years of relevant experience. Experience with analyzing written and edited technical reports or policy language for government clients. Desired Qualifications: At least three years of experience leading and managing complex communications initiatives. Proven expertise in MS tools including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel with special emphasis on presentation and slide development. Advanced expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Visio, and/or other editing software. Experience leading communications efforts for DoD Research and Development Programs, systems engineering, microelectronics, or similar engineering or emerging technology field. Familiarity with a range of technical intelligence disciplines including FISINT, MASINT, ELINT, IMINT, and more. Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is: $92,000.00 - $154,000.00 annually.
