Do you have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences or similar and are you looking to make an impact in Neuroscience? The Tian Lab at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience has a unique opportunity for you! We are looking for someone with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Sciences, Bioengineering, Neuroscience or in any other relevant field to join our group as a Research Technician. We are looking for self-driven, curious, and independent individuals who wants to work in the field of molecular tools development to study brain activity through imaging techniques.

The Tian Lab is working on engineering, developing, and testing fluorescent protein-based sensors to detect neuronal activity by highlighting the release of specific neurochemicals with high spatio-temporal resolution in the living brain. Our aim is to expand our suite of sensors for in vivo imaging and analysis of neuronal communication across the brain to understand the relationship and coordination between circuitry, network activity and behavioral output in animals.

To achieve this goal, we use molecular cloning, protein engineering, biochemical protein characterization, high-throughput screening methods, cell culture, 1 and 2photon imaging, in vivo fiber photometry, among others. We are looking for candidates interested in working in a multidisciplinary environment, where they can interact and integrate with researchers from a diverse background. The main duty of this position is to provide research support for daily laboratory operations, including but not limited to the preparation of media, inventory, instrument maintenance, care for and generation of cell lines, general lab organization, meeting scheduling and coordination, under supervision of senior scientists and the PI.

Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Molecular Sciences, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, or in any other relevant discipline are encouraged to apply to become part of our team. Analytical skills, attention to detail, motivation, ability to keep detailed and organized notes, are highly sought after for this position.

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Molecular Sciences, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, or other relevant disciplines is required.

Preferred Experience

Preparation of media, buffers and solution, PCR, molecular cloning, bacterial and mammalian cell culture, and general experience with sterile techniques.

Fluorescence microscopy, automated liquid handling, automated imaging screening.

Experience with inventory management software, data and image processing software, programming and scripting (e.g.: Matlab, Python, or others).
