Position: Security Officer / Driver

Facility: Maui Job Corps Center

Location: 500 Ike Dr, Makawao, HI 96768

Work schedule: Full-time - Evening shift and night shift available, 8-hour shifts; On-call - As needed

Rate of pay: $18.82 per hour

Bonus: $2,000 sign-on

Position summary: A security officer is responsible for performing guard and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, and disasters in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential responsibilities:

• Secure building and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks and emergency equipment; maintain log of findings and corrective action taken
• Perform parking and traffic control duties
• Perform routine vehicle equipment inspections
• Provide general transportation services as necessary
• Respond to fire alarms; take the necessary steps to report fires; assist in suppressing fires; and resent fire alarm equipment
• Set up and check operation of intrusion alarm systems in building as required
• Assist staff and law enforcement personnel in controlling disturbances; conduct preliminary investigation of crimes

Education and experience requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of related experience
• State security guard certification or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment is required
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50-70 lbs
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. May be required to obtain a CDL license.

Hawaii Job Corps Center is operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC) for the U.S. Department of Labor. Located in Waimanalo, Oahu & Makawao, Maui, our campus is home to 300 young adults, ages 16-24, who have made the decision to come to Job Corps to improve their lives. Every staff member is part of teaching the students the academic, technical training, employability, and social skills they need to become prepared for successful careers.

A Job Corps campus is like a mini college. It has dormitories, classrooms, a dining hall, and recreational and medical facilities. Training is open entry, open exit and can last up to two years. Students work at their own pace, guided by academic and career training instructors who are committed to their success.
