JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

START DATE: EARLY TO MID-APRIL, 2024

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

SUMMARY OF POSITION: We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Technical Director to join our team, who will serve as the assistant to the Technical Director; provide support for all technical department staff; serve as the primary administrative staff member for the technical department; assist in the advancing and settling of shows as needed; relieve the Technical Director as needed; perform as a primary crew member on events; and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Degree in technical theatre or theatrical management or proven equivalent experience
• Previous experience leading large crews in outdoor event set up, including knowledge of building/dismantling staging, erecting scaffolding, installing dance floors and seating
• Comfortability working in Vectorworks
• Experience with When I Work or other similar scheduling apps
• Knowledge in all areas of theatrical tech
• Ability to generate estimates and settlements
• Experience dealing with payroll systems, coding, petty cash tracking
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel, Google Calendar & Docs
• Experience with meeting rooms and equipment (projectors, microphones, et al)
• Multitasking, ability to balance current clientele while advancing multiple future shows
• Hiring labor, maintaining schedules, tracking labor
• Current Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Highly organized self-starter
• Enthusiastic, collaborative work ethic

HIGHER CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

• Rigging & Flyrail certifications or equivalent experience
• OSHA10, OSHA30, Forklift certifications
• CPR & First Aid certifications
• Background in advancing large-scale touring productions
• Work history that includes a variety of positions, including but not limited to: Rigger, Stage Manager, PSM, TD, Department Lead, Crew Chief, Assistant, Runner
• Proof of strong client relationships and professional work demeanor
• Experience researching industry trends and advancements in technology
• Spreadsheet expert
• Strong, reliable references

OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS:

• Invoice coding
• Accounting tracking and paperwork
• Check requests, petty cash maintenance & replenishment
• Meeting room technical set ups and tear downs, often solo and multiples per day
• Office, tech, & first aid supply tracking and stocking, filing as needed
• Manage badge creation & facility key distribution and tracking
