Matthews Construction is Hiring a Concrete Foreman Near York, PA

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Concrete Working Foreman. This candidate must be able to set forms for various types of concrete work and be proficient in finishing all types of concrete from curbs and walks to floors and patios. This candidate must effective leadership and motivational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to finish concrete to different degrees (hard trowel, broomed and stamped)
  • Uses tools such as float, hand trowel, power trowel, power screed, bull float, 10’-16’ straight edge.
  • The finisher must have knowledge of equipment/tools and their uses. The foreman is also responsible for the efficient working condition of the tools/equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance as needed.
  • Must be able to form concrete (curbs, walks, floors and walls)
  • Thoroughly understand all requirements of the project — slump, thickness, offset and surface appearance.
  • Use a saw to cut control joints
  • Perform general labor duties when necessary.
  • Provide effective leadership, management, and motivation to crews.
  • Successfully understand blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain daily logs and complete timesheets to track labor hours accurately.
  • Inspect concrete forms to verify proper construction and alignment, adjusting as needed.
  • Ensure safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Must be willing and able to assist with any duties performed by concrete finishers and laborers as needed to ensure project completion and success.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support project objectives and meet client expectations

Competencies:

  • 2 years of experience required
  • Must have own hand tools and boots.
  • Display focus on safety by properly following company policies Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must require minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Valid Driver’s License required, Commercial Driver’s License helpful.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to perform with or without accommodations.
  • Has own vehicle for transportation to and from shop

Work Demands & Environment:

  • Employee will be required to work in outdoor environments which may include exposure to extreme temperatures and weather.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, shovel, sweep, rake, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods.
  • Requires occasional moving/lifting of up to 85 pounds during the course of the work day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
