The Opportunity:
Mattel's in-house Integrated Marketing Communications team is looking for a seasoned Senior Designer/Art Director to work on the Mattel Masterbrand and Shopper/Mattel Creations DTC platform. Candidate must have a passion for big ideas, branding and graphic design across various visual communication and marketing materials that support the brand strategy and business objectives including key art, retail, social, digital, video production, and more. Highly conceptual, overflowing with ideas, hands-on design creation, and capable of leading and designing with internal and external partners.

Must demonstrate a proven track record in developing strategically driven ideas and creative assets, with a strong understanding of graphic design, typography, as well as show passions outside the workplace.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Strong ability to conceive of and execute big ideas that are on-brand and can translate across all areas of the business that challenge convention and norms.
  • Work that can translate across marketing communications - including print, digital, ecommerce, video, and social media.
  • Effectively translate brand positioning and visual identities into successful, compelling campaigns, assets and activations that are relevant and engaging for global and local use.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of global guides and high-res assets, across multiple media channels for print and digital use, and high-quality production of layouts following editorial, design and brand specifications of each project.
  • Oversee and provide creative direction for lifestyle and product photography shoots to be used in marketing materials.
  • Prioritizing multiple projects at any given time and efficiently deliver on time.
  • Collaborate with team in a positive and productive manner including partnering with copywriters, producers, marketing partners and fellow designers.
  • Maintain a self-motivated approach with a consistently positive attitude.
  • Maintain ownership of work from concept through final delivery while appropriately communicating with supervisor to ensure alignment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Versed and on-top of current trends (design, art, pop culture, typography, advertising, social media, digital, entertainment, etc.)
  • Strong experience and knowledge in branding and design, ecommerce/retail, social/digital first asset creation, and brand guide development.
  • Excellent computer skills: Adobe Suite, and all relevant software tied to graphic design, animation and content creation (a plus)
  • Ability to see large picture while not losing focus of details.
  • High level concepting, knowledge or interest in launching new brands and products.
  • Ability to effectively communicate design ideas and strategies.
  • Ability to art direct for logos, branding, video, photography, and illustration.
  • Eager to learn from others and inspire peers.
  • Experience in developing brand campaigns that are shopper targeted and that span across multiple touchpoints.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years minimum in Graphic Design or similar field
  • Design Firm/Agency Experience as strongly preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale, global brands strongly preferred.
  • Branding, graphic design experience required.
  • Digital and Social experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills: Adobe Suite, and all relevant software tied to graphic design, and content creation.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $76,800.00 and $110,000.00.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
