Overview

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineer 3 position requires an engineer at a medium experience level. The Engineer 3performs assignments, which have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. This employee evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Under general supervision, the Engineer 3 may direct one or more small projects.

Essential Functions

• Works in a safe manner at all times. Adheres to both Matrix and client established safety standards when appropriate.• Performs design and engineering functions in accordance with accepted practices and company standards and/or performs system design for assigned software and control system projects.• On small projects, interfaces with the client as necessary to obtain and communicate project information related to project design parameters, schedules, and budgets.• Prepares and maintains project documentation to include proposal, project log record, Work Breakdown Structures Report (WBS), memos, letters, meeting minutes, scope changes, and associated documents.• On larger projects, works as a team member under project manager direction.• Prepares proposal scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, functional specifications, and cost estimates for small to medium size projects.• Gathers field data and prepares project specifications.• Coordinates design activities of other team members in preparation of construction and specification documents.• May exercise independent problem solving and decision making skills.• Maintains and/or develops positive client relationships on projects assigned.• Adheres to the policies and procedures of the Quality System and/or discipline standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Prior Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university• 2-4 years minimum experienceOther Requirements (licenses, programs, certificates):• E.I.T. preferred

Travel Requirements:

• Local travel or travel to alternate work sites may be required to support Matrix clients and projects• Overnight travel may be required to support Matrix clients and projectsPhysical Requirements:• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear. • The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.• This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
