Location: Neenah, WI 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Supply Chain Team, as a Procurement Lead – External Manufacturing. This role provides leadership and continuous improvement in the external manufacturing process for Mativ’s US operations. This role would have a strategic focus in the areas of external manufacturing, product quality, cost improvement, and footprint optimization aligning with enterprise objectives and initiatives. This role works with others to influence decisions to positively affect the overall optimization of external manufacturing and operations. 
Responsibilities 
Direct activities to achieve business expectations: 
    • Serves as the process champion between internal production planning and outside service providers in the external manufacturing process.
    • Develops and implements continuous improvement plans and programs for cost, quality, and service that ensure efficient coordination and management of the external manufacturing activities in conjunction with other internal converting operations.
    • Identifies and mitigates risks of external manufacturing which may significantly impact service or corporate financial results.
    • Implements a robust inventory control for supplies and base paper.
    • Ensures Corporate Financial controls are followed.
    • Supports retail new product development with Golden sample process.
    • Working cross-functionally to align on approval and communicating with the suppliers.
    • Coordinating the UL testing, certifications, social compliance, eco-records, and environmental requirements with suppliers and customers.
    • Coordinates with external manufacturers any special raw material requirements and works with the logistics team to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and the delivery of finished goods.
    • Organize external production workflow for projects and support the shifts in production schedules based on needs.
    • Ensure that the production process follows industry standards and safety regulations.
Build an efficient and effective strategy to optimize our internal/external asset base: 
    • Routinely benchmarks performance/cost of internal vs. external converting sources to identify market competitiveness and alternatives.
    • Manages external manufacturers for cost-advantaged opportunities that ensure the lowest cost position as measured in cost of manufacture (COM).
    • Works with production planning to ensure the lowest cost system balance, inclusive of external manufacturing options.
    • Tracks monthly cost advantages through strategic selection of external manufacturing options.
    • Works cross-functionally with sales and production planning to adjust production needs based on market requirements.
    • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes and external manufacturing opportunities.
    • Participate in special projects supporting operations representing procurement and supplier management.
Investigate external manufacturers' capability and recommend solutions to the organization to solve customer requests and balance internal capability.  
Drive strategic cost and product initiatives including: 
    • Manufacturing footprint optimization opportunities.
    • Supporting product improvement projects, programs, and initiatives.
    • Identifying and leading cost-reduction strategic initiatives.
    • Estimate costs and prepare pricing recommendations for new product development process.
Qualifications: 
Required Education & Skillsets: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, and/or related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain role or knowledge of the paper industry and/or converting process.
    • High attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Holistic and proactive approach to project management.
    • Ability to influence change with demonstrated ability to identify and solve complex problems as well as taking new perspectives on existing solutions.
    • Ability to excel working independently and with cross-functional teams. 
    • Self-motivated with high personal drive, receiving minimal guidance.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
    • Champion of Process Improvement and Change Management.
Preferred: 
    • CPSM, CPIM or APICS certification is a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead functional project teams.
