Mathtech is seeking a qualified individual to join our State and Local Consulting Practice as a Management Consulting Project Manager.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading and delivering client projects and represents Mathtech to all levels of client organizations on a day-to-day basis. This position performs direct project work and could manage project teams consisting of employee and/or contractor staff. This position is responsible for the delivery of services for one or more projects or clients, ensuring quality delivery in accordance with Mathtech methodologies and standards.

The Manager must have the skills and experience to understand client goals, manage client relationships and lead Mathtech delivery to provide high-quality service and customer satisfaction.

The Manager is also an integral driver and supporter of Business Development, Proposal Development, and Practice Management for Mathtech’s State, Local, and Commercial Division.

Managers are not expected to be experts in every operational domain or area of service delivery. Each manager has the opportunity to evolve their position to best meet the needs of our clients, Mathtech, the market, and their own needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Types of Projects

Managers are responsible for performing a range of projects, including the following. No manager is expected to have the expertise to lead all of the following project types.

  • Visioning & Strategic Planning
  • Business Process and Operations Improvement
  • Data Analytics and Data Management
  • Technology Modernization
  • Requirements Analysis & System Development
  • Vendor Management, Project Management & Oversight, IV&V
  • Organizational Change Management
  • Project Planning and RFP & SOW Development

Government Domains

Managers are responsible for supporting a range of operational domains, including the following. No manager is expected to have expertise in all of these operational areas.

  • Motor Vehicle Operations
  • Tax & Revenue
  • Human Services
  • Business Licensing
  • Labor and Workforce
  • Transportation
  • Education
  • IT Operations

Service Delivery

In all areas of service delivery, Managers are expected to perform the following functions.

  • Plan and Execute projects, including Mathtech staff and subcontractors
  • Develop & deliver presentations
  • Lead the development of a wide range of client deliverables
  • Manage client relationships
  • Develop and execute project plans
  • Manage project budgets, expenses, and profit

Team Support

Managers are expected to fully support internal operations, including the following:

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of service delivery methodologies
  • Interview candidates for project roles
  • Assist in enhancing business operations
  • Mentor junior staff

Business Development

Managers are responsible for supporting business development and client management, including the following:

  • Strategize and develop proposals
  • Attend relevant industry conferences
  • Track and pursue new business opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials
  • Support the development of new markets

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Business, Management, Operations, IT, or similar technical field
  • 10 years of experience directing and managing technology and business transformation projects
  • 3 years of client management consulting experience
  • Experience responding to RFPs and writing proposals and statement of works
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze client problems, synthesize and deliver solutions, and create deliverables

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Industry recognized Project Management certification
  • 3 years of project delivery experience specifically for state government agencies
  • Experience with technology implementation projects which may include strategy, pre-implementation planning, and implementation support
  • Prior experience with professional services organizations a plus
  • Strong time management, planning, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office and SharePoint skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a self-directed manner to accomplish objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous initiatives, including client projects, practice management efforts, and proposal development activities
  • A willingness to travel to address the needs of Mathtech clients nationwide
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends on occasion
