Primary Purpose:
To provide intervention and instruction to assist at-risk students in developing coping skills, appropriate behavior, and social skills. Facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through their courses of study; provide a safe and optimal learning environment. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment and provide feedback regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and activities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid teacher certification with required special education endorsements for subject assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special needs of students with behavior disorders.
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal(ARD) Committee processes
and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process implementation.
Specific knowledge of subject matter assigned.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
At least 1 year teaching experience.
Experience teaching students with severe behavior disorders.
