Position Summary

Responsible for supporting and facilitating community-based maternal child health groups to raise awareness of issues impacting families. Assist with community outreach to identify and recruit program participants.

Essential Functions

• Provide evidence-based parenting education to pregnant and parenting families.
• Conduct pre/post data to measure impact of community-based groups.
• Assist with community outreach activities to increase enrollment and expand services.
• Recruit program participants interested in group education.
• Utilize evidence-based materials to deliver community-based education.
• Support and refer participants needing more intensive follow-up to appropriate agencies.
• Provide educational literature, and prevention materials to clients as needed.
• Attend community meetings, health fairs and represents MCC as requested by supervisor.
• Maintain group stats and careful records for all community-based groups and follow up with contacts as necessary for all groups.
• Attend training to advance in knowledge and expertise.
• Meet with supervisor regularly to report on and discuss work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
• Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues, particularly with pregnant women, prenatal care, parenting and other services for mothers, young children, and their families.
• Ability to travel in the Greater Philadelphia region.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues facing the community served.
• Knowledge of group facilitation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, clients, and members of the community.
• Skillful in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to operate a computer and use a variety of common software programs
• Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner to maintain client records.
• Skilled in a variety of multi-media platforms.
• Experience utilizing virtual meeting platforms.

Experience, Education, and Licensure

• Associates degree required from an accredited college or university
• 2 year experience providing direct services in a community setting preferred.
• Experience with group facilitation preferred.
• Maternal and child health experience preferred
• Valid drivers’ license
• Available to work evenings and weekends.
• Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish)
