This position requires an understanding of how a fabrication department functions as well as a general understanding of how MHSE orders are planned and requirements are communicated from Engineering to Sales and Operations.

This includes how information is set up in the ERP system based on production requirements and in preparation for work order creation and inventory management.

BOM Specialist creates and maintains accurate Item Masters and consistent multi-level Bills of Materials (BOM) for Engineering and Production.

In addition to creating Items and BOMs this position executes Engineering Change Orders (ECO) with a thorough understanding of downstream impact resulting from changes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Constructs BOMs for new products and semi-finished products as well as maintain items, BOMs and product changes from engineering.
• Interprets and validates specifications used to create new items, BOMs and Product Changes for materials; audits for accuracy between ERP and VAULT;

performs all conversions necessary to translate the specification into the ERP BOM; and examines the specifications themselves for accuracy.

• Is responsible to understand the product specification (drawing) - why it calls for what it does - and challenge anything that seems incorrect or inconsistent.
• Assists in development and implementation of tools, processes, and procedures that will be used by the BOM Specialist to ensure accurate BOMs and Routings.
• Understands cost impact of changing BOMs and Items as well as impact on production orders, inventory values, and variances.
• Actively engages in cross functional communication to ensure accuracy and timely creation and maintenance of BOMs and Items.
• Analyzes all BOM and routing change requests to ensure that each level of the multi-level BOM is changed in accordance with the requested change and ensures that the change request is necessary.
• Participates or leads teams / group related to BOM accuracy.
• Handles other daily tasks that occur within the business as directed.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Items, BOMs and Change Notices.
• ERP / IQMS, MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel experience required.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making ability.
• High energy, motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills, while being assertive in a team environment.
• Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision.
• Able to work well with others.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Able to work under stress and meet deadlines.
