Overview

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Finance and Accounting plays a critical role in overseeing and directing all financial and accounting functions within an organization. This position is typically a senior executive role reporting directly to the President. The SVP of Finance and Accounting is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, and implementing effective financial policies and procedures to support the organization's overall objectives.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Required/preferred experience education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred or equivalent combination or work experience and education.
  • Proven track record of success in senior finance roles, with at least 15 years of experience in progressively responsible positions.

Essential Functions

  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):
    • Lead the development of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-term strategic plans.
    • Provide analysis and insights into financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
    • Assess financial risks and opportunities, and make recommendations to senior management for decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and laws.
    • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and regulatory filings.
  • Accounting Operations:
    • Direct the accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
    • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
    • Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Treasury and Cash Management:
    • Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
    • Oversee banking relationships and debt financing activities.
    • Optimize investment strategies to maximize returns while minimizing risk.
  • Financial Strategy and Decision Support:
    • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management and the Board of Directors.
    • Evaluate capital allocation decisions, investment opportunities, and potential acquisitions.
    • Collaborate with other functional leaders to drive cross-functional initiatives and achieve company goals.
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
    • Develop and mentor finance professionals to enhance their skills and capabilities.
