Location: Brockton, MA Category: Faculty Posted On: Fri Feb 23 2024 Job Description:

The instructor will work as a team member in the Nurse Education program. The position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities related to supporting student success such as managing a classroom, holding students accountable, and encouraging them with structured opportunities to develop their own proficiency. The position requires student advising, attendance at all team, departmental, divisional and all college meetings, serving on college committees and other duties as assigned and outlined in the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teach theory in the classroom
  • Supervise students in clinical and nursing arts labs
  • Test, evaluate, and communicate performance and progress with students, supervisors, and other departments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Proficient with technology, both learning and diagnostic
  • Willingness to teach online and hybrid model courses
  • Other duties as assigned and outlined in the MCCC Agreement
Job Requirements:
  • Master of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Candidate must be a registered nurse in Massachusetts or eligible to be registered
  • Five years of acute care clinical experience or a minimum of five years' experience working as a registered nurse in a health care setting
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in curriculum and course development
  • Knowledge of recent developments in nursing education
  • Awareness of the sensitivity to educational goals of a diverse population
  • Understanding of evidence-based teaching strategies to improve student learning with a wide range of instructional systems development, tutoring methods, and techniques for student support and success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Medical-Surgical nursing
  • Experience in higher education and community colleges

Additional Information:

Position Status: Full-time benefited Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) union position.

Term of appointment: This is a full-time, tenure track position. Terms governed by MCCC/MTA Agreement.

Supervisor: Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Nursing.

Salary: $55,000 - $68,000 annually, Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Position Start Date: Beginning of the Fall 2024 semester

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
