Massapequa Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is Hiring a Recreation Specialist Near Amityville, NY

Massapequa Center Rehabilitation & Nursing is committed to improving our patients' quality of life & autonomy through innovative rehabilitative services, and an exceptional level of client-centered care and attention. We are seeking a caring and dedicated Recreation Specialist to join our rapidly growing team at our skilled nursing facility in Amityville!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and implement recreational activities and programs.
  • Oversee team of activity coordinators
  • Ensure all documentation of resident care plans, recreation participation and progress is documented in accordance with NYS guidelines
  • Oversee coordination of transportation for residents to and from activities
  • Conduct recreational programs on assigned units and throughout the facility as designated

Qualifications:

  • Experience in long-term/short term recreation programming
  • Knowledge of MDS/Care Planning CMS/New York State regulations, including survey compliance
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
  • A strong empathy with and commitment to helping the senior population
  • Experience and comfortability working with dementia patients
  • Ability to work efficiently across various departments
  • High-level of creativity, artistic ability and communication skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and variable shifts as needed
  • Bachelor degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Creative Arts Therapist, Music Therapy or similar applicable field preferred
