Massage Envy is Hiring a General Spa Manager Near Elkridge, MD

As a General Manager at our Spas, you will be responsible for ensuring that each location is operating at its highest potential, achieving financial goals, and providing exceptional customer service. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive growth and profitability, and for ensuring that all locations are in compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant regulations.

You will provide direct supervision of the Massage Therapists and Estheticians across our network. In addition to overseeing the clinic operations, you will develop the schedules our our Massage Therapists and Estheticians. Your role will also provide continuous corporate training designed to enhance services , process administrative tasks such as bi-weekly payroll, ensure that clinic operations meet the needs of clients and the expectations of the business.

As a General Manager, your responsibilities will include:

Operations Management:

Working with and through a team of wellness consultants, team leads, and the therapist manager:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of three Spa locations
  • Ensure that each location is operating at optimal efficiency and profitability
  • Develop and implement operational plans that align with the company's goals and objectives with the guidance of the owners
  • Provide direct guidance and direction to location staff
  • Ensure that all locations are adhering to company policies and procedures

Financial Management:

  • Develop and managing budgets for each location with the assistance of owners
  • Monitor financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Analyze financial reports and making recommendations for improvement
  • Manage inventory and ensuring that each location is stocked with the necessary supplies
  • Ensure that each location is meeting financial targets and achieving profitability goals

Staff Management:

  • Hire, train, and supervise all staff with special emphasis on Estheticians and Wellness Consultants
  • Ensure that each location has a qualified and motivated staff
  • Develop and implementing employee retention strategies
  • Conduct performance evaluations and providing feedback to location managers and staff
  • Ensure that all locations are in compliance with employment laws and regulations

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that each location is providing exceptional customer service
  • Monitor customer feedback and making improvements as needed
  • Develop and implementing customer service standards and protocols
  • Ensure that all locations are in compliance with company policies and procedures related to customer service

Marketing and Sales:

  • Develop and implementing marketing and sales strategies for each location
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives and making adjustments as needed
  • Conduct market research to identify new opportunities for growth
  • Ensure that all locations are in compliance with company policies and procedures related to marketing and sales
  • Serve as first line supervisor and support for Esthetician and Wellness Consultants in all three locations.
  • Continuously recruit new hires and complete the onboarding process according to corporate protocols.
  • One on ones, as needed, with each direct report; where goals and challenges along with rewards and consequences are discussed so there are no surprises if a counseling discussion happens in the future.
  • Use Basecamp to communicate strategy and action items to the team.
  • Use Basecamp to keep clinic owners updated on latest developments.
  • Coaching Clinic Leadership on:goal setting
  • creating training plans and workshops to build skill for the front line.placing high performers on Development Plans to take on more responsibility to assist in the team’s increase in high performance habits.creating and maintaining performance related Improvement Plans to coach low performers up or out.Creating excitement within the clinic to make work fun.Providing timely 90-day reviews that make an impact on the future of the new employeeCompleting annual reviews before March 1 of each year or by 30 days after annual anniversary.
  • Be accountable for:achieving clinic and network performance objectives

being prepared and passing a clinic BEST Visitsaddressing/documenting employee issues in a timely manner.achieving ‘Good’ or above in each category of their quarterly performance plan

  • Be active in the community to ensure our Spa continues to be the wellness partner of choice in our markets.
  • Coordinate Community events with key clinic contacts to ensure the event is properly executed. Attend events whenever possible to inspect setup and talk team into shift to ensure objectives are communicated.
  • Ensure Massage Therapists and Stretch Providers are working a weekly schedule that is best for the business.
  • Attracting new talent to replace low performers. Build a bench so management doesn’t hold on to key positions that don’t perform.
  • Position key talent across our small network to cover staffing needs. Cover a clinic whenever no other leadership is available to provide best coverage to build the business and prevent risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Goals for the Position:

  • <3% monthly Member Attrition across the locations
  • 25% guest sales conversion
  • Therapist Turn-over <30%
  • Maintain a combined NPS of >75%.
  • 15% YOY Product sales revenue increase
  • Gain approval for contest budgets from clinic owners. Create contest around key national campaigns and publish tracking daily to Basecamp.

  • Work Schedule

Work to get the job done. Typical week will range from 40-46 hours committed to the business. Create a weekly plan to ensure you manage your time efficiently to direct your team to success. Work schedule will require that you actively work in each of the clinics on a weekly basis rotating with senior and junior staff to ensure that shifts are covered and staff are managed. Periodic nights and weekend hours are required in addition to some occassional overnight travel.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,547.00 per year
