GENERAL SUMMARY:The Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is one of the largest and most dynamic hubs of genomic and precision medicine research in the world.The Scientific Communications Manager will support the CGM research mission and lead scientific communications and overall program management. In partnership with the CGM Administrative Director and Associate Director, the incumbent will provide support to the CGM faculty and report to the CGM Director.
The Communications Manager is a mission-driven, impassioned communicator, with the vision and creative solutions needed to bring transformative scientific discoveries made within the CGM to world-wide recognition within the scientific and lay communities. Must have a deep interest in all aspects of genomic medicine as it applies to scientific discovery and the delivery of state-of-the-art precision medicine. The role will be responsible for developing core communications for internal and external purposes for the Center; streamline, direct, and curate external engagements and social media platforms; leading interactions with MGH and other entities for philanthropic development; driving new strategic initiatives with written and visual content; overseeing program management of all CGM activities related to our scientific community and faculty affairs.
Will serve as the outward facing point of contact for the CGM to the faculty, MGH, Harvard Medical School (HMS), the Broad Institute, and the international research community. Will lead CGM communications, administrative organization, and philanthropic development. The role will also directly supervise a Project Coordinator to support the overall programmatic mission as well as the planning and organization of all CGM community activities. Must have exceptional organization, communication, and leadership skills to manage a team and advance major initiatives independently with high level feedback. The role will collaborate closely with the CGM Director and Associate Director, as well as scientific leadership teams across MGH departments, the Broad Institute, and external academic institutions. The incumbent will also work closely with Mass General Research Institute (MGRI) development teams on building a CGM philanthropic platform to encourage durable investment in CGM scientific priorities. The role requires discretion and judgment to organize priorities, complete tasks, and manage confidential information.

EXPERIENCE:Required:
Minimum 3 years of experience in communications and/or administrative, project, or program management - preferably with a scientific or medical focus
Preferred:
5 years of experience working in the scientific and/ or healthcare community, with demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills necessary for philanthropic development and working across different communication mediums.
