Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.
Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time, non-unit position with no benefits.
The Library Administrator performs duties in connection with patron assistance, circulation, collection maintenance, and other basic library functions. They also aid library users in locating and using materials; charge, renew and discharge library books and materials; and perform related work as required. This candidate will also aid in the maintenance, preparation, distribution and lending of library books and other materials.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist library users by responding to inquiries and providing information concerning library materials, library and college rules and procedures, and library facilities;
  • Provide general reference services; train and assist library patrons in the use of the online catalog, reference, book and periodical collections, and electronic resources;
  • Charge, renew and discharge library materials to record the disposition of library materials; maintain records and statistics of circulation and other daily activities;
  • Verify proper location of books and other library materials by searching the library for misplaced items, retrieving books as requested, and placing books and other library materials in the proper locations to facilitate use and accountability of library materials;
  • Assist and instruct users in the operation of copiers, printers, and any additional equipment;
  • Perform bibliographic searches for faculty and for other purposes;
  • Create and update LibGuides and other instructional tools;
  • May provide support to library systems including Koha, LibGuides and Summon;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • MLS (Master of Library Science) or equivalent from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited institution with previous experience in the utilization of library automated systems and electronic reference resources;
  • Demonstrated written and presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
