POSITION:

APPLICATION SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

CLASSIFICATION:

ITS

GRADE LEVEL:

ONE - THREE

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

We are seeking a talented and adaptable Application Support and Development Specialist to join our team. This role will primarily focus on supporting vendor applications while also contributing to the development of custom applications using C#, .NET MVC, and Angular. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.

SUPERVISION BY: MANAGER OF APPLICATION SYSTEMS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support for vendor applications, serving as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with vendors to escalate and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts, tools, and utilities to automate support tasks and enhance the efficiency of application management processes.
  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of vendor applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in production environments.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for custom application development.
  • Design and develop custom applications using C#, .NET MVC, and Angular, following best practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities to ensure software integrity, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to validate application functionality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Document technical specifications, system configurations, and operational procedures to support application deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, optimization, and automation in application support and development workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required Skills and/or Experience:

  • Associate (2 year) degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in application support or software development roles, with a strong understanding of software systems and technologies.
  • Experience supporting vendor applications and working with third-party vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Proficiency in C#, .NET MVC, and Angular, with hands-on experience in developing web applications using these technologies.
  • Solid understanding of databases, SQL, and data manipulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude, with a desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail in all work activities.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s (4 year) degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or System Engineering or a related field with emphasis and study in systems analysis and design of software solutions.
  • Comprehensive programming experience within a database environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
  • Industry standard certifications such as ITIL, MCSA or PMI
  • Experience in the transportation or manufacturing industry
  • Experience supporting Trapeze, Solomon (Microsoft Dynamics SL), Kronos, Fuel Master and ULTIPRO

SALARY

$38,270-$53,107
