The Bar-Peled Lab of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center at Harvard Medical School is accepting applications for a Research Technician I/II position. The laboratory studies the cellular response to altered metabolic states in multiple cancer models. Dr. Bar-Peled seeks exceptionally motivated candidates who enjoy conducting research and involving themselves in the dynamic and intellectual environment of the laboratory. She or he will have the opportunity to become fully involved with all the steps of research being completed in our laboratory, often working directly with Dr. Bar-Peled, which will lead to numerous publications. Investigators in our laboratory will present at regular laboratory meetings. The experience gained in the lab will be very helpful for pursuing a career as a researcher or physician.
The Principal Responsibilities listed below are broad and may vary in scope as time progresses.
Job Requirements: College degree with a preference in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or biochemistry. Candidates with a strong computational background are also encouraged to apply. Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of research experience in a laboratory are highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced evolving environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.
Synthesizes and interprets information obtained from graphs, charts, laboratory experiments, statistical summaries and other data collection methods in order to develop new investigative techniques and/or to determine the most appropriate direction of research. The candidate will prepare written reports on status of research, determination of technical procedures, sequence of operations, including statistical and graphic summaries of findings and possible conclusions. Collaborates with supervisor in writing and editing material for publication and may appear as principal or secondary author on publications. Onboards and orients new technical staff and oversees the duties of the current Technician I and Technician II's.
