The Opportunity: IV Technician - IV Therapy Department
To meet the timely needs for care of patients presenting to inpatient units, for vascular access device insertion assist, venipuncture for difficult access patients and vascular access needs, the role of the IV Tech is critical to the vascular access team and our patients.

What are we looking for?
Reporting to the Nurse Director, the IV Tech will be an integral member of the care team, working together with nurses, physicians, physician's assistants, and patient care associates to provide care and service to patients. The IV Tech will be expected to have a global view of the inpatient units needs for vascular access requests and support the patient, clinical staff, and other members of the care team in providing patients with care as efficiently as possible.

Skills
Must be able to read/write English and communicate clearly with staff and patients.
Effectively performs venipuncture, as well as skin puncture (where applicable and if trained) on adults, elders, adolescents, and school aged children, and if trained and assigned, pediatric venipuncture, finger and heel sticks on infants or toddlers or preschool age children.
Excellent interpersonal communication and skills whether in person, via the telephone and/or in writing.
Superior service attitude; Compassionate and kind; Energetic and upbeat; Self-motivator; Flexibility and proven ability to handle multiple tasks.
Works well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Intellectual independence and have a desire to learn and develop new skills and better methods of completing work efforts.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills; asking for direction when appropriate.
Attentive to standard safety and infection control procedures including standard precautions.
Preferred : Must have recent experience in clinical patient care and/or at least one-year phlebotomy work experience.
Required: Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent; nationally certified phlebotomist, licensed nursing assistant with phlebotomy experience, medical assistant, IV technician
