Overview
The position of Production Forklift driver is responsible for operating a forklift or other mobile material handling devices to move materials about the facilities. While operating a forklift, moving materials to and from work centers, an employee in this position needs to be on constant look out to ensure safe movement throughout. The forklift driver is responsible for making certain that material is staged at work areas per the schedule to minimize down time due to not having enough material to manufacture as well as moving finished loads to either the designated storage areas or on to the next work center for further processes. The forklift driver will also be responsible for keeping all work areas clean and free of debris for maximum safety in operating.
Duties and Experience
- Maintain forklifts and other material handling equipment as necessary by charging, cleaning, oiling and refueling and record all information on the designated logs.
- Use the production schedule to determine material requirements, movements and deliveries to appropriate staging areas as needed or required.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including the required use of personal protective equipment.
- Safety conscious movements, drive in designated areas only, use a spotter as necessary, be on constant look out for pedestrians or obstacles.
- Moving products to and from the production work centers in a timely fashion to have little or no impact on production to minimize down time.
- Proper storage of materials in designated areas within the facility.
- General housekeeping and clean-up of work areas and any other areas as designated.
- 2 years experience preferred but not required
