Controller

The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports and the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records.
Duties and Responsibilities Include but not Limited to:
· Responsible for the design, implementation, and management of computerized accounting systems.
· Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
· Develops, analyzes, and issues timely monthly statements to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
· Performs the month end closing and financial reporting process.
· Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
· Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
· Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
· Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
· Distributes expenditures, encumbrance, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
· Manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
· Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
· Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
· Works in conjunction with others in the preparation of annual Medicare/Medicaid Cost Reports.
· Directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of the Accounting Clerk as applicable.
· Works as the backup to the Accounting Clerk position and its related job duties as applicable.
· Management of the accounting of revenue cycle functions.
· Monthly, Quarterly, and annual reporting to State of Michigan, CMS, and other required reporting.
· Other duties as assigned.

· The ability to build relationships with staff, other departments, residents, family, volunteers & visitors.
Education and/or Experience:
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting; three (3) years related experience and/or training in accounting practices; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
