Under the direction of the Tribal Manager, the incumbent oversees all recreation services for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. Manages, directs, supervises and coordinates various recreation programs and special events for the Community. Plans afterschool and school break programming by creating detailed schedules and overseeing their implementation. Hires and develops full-time, part-time and seasonal recreation staff. Manages budget for recreation programming. Expands current recreation programming to increase engagement and support the full use of the Community Center for Tribal Youth and Adults. Oversees rentals of Community Center facilities to both tribal community and general public. Provides support to the Director of Education/Recreation in establishing department goals and strategic planning.
Bachelor’s degree required, in Education preferred. Certification in Teaching or three (3) years in a Recreation Director/Manager role required. That includes two (2) years of supervising experience required. Ability to provide after-hours services as needed. Demonstrate strong leadership, management and communication skills. Must have CPR and First Aid Certification.
