SAU # 62MASCOMA VALLEY REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICTJOB DESCRIPTION FORDIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION & ASSESSMENTTITLE: Director of Curriculum, Instruction and AssessmentREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsROLE: 1. To provide leadership in the development of curriculum and instruction programs within the district, manage the Federal Programs so they better serve the needs of the students, and lead the professional development program. 2. Oversees Curriculum and instructional programs, Federal programs, (except Special Education), Staff Development and Media Generalist for the Mascoma Valley Regional School District.3. Development of K-12 written curriculum, aligned with NH Frameworks and student assessment programs.4. Reports on local, state and national assessment results.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in Education, Three years successful teaching experience. One (1) year of administrative experience, Certified in Curriculum LeadershipKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:1.Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated skill in oral and written communications; knowledge of software systems (word processing, database usage and financial systems)2.Strong organizational skills3.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptableDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Provides staff leadership in accomplishing educational goals/objectives of schools within the Mascoma Valley Regional School District.2.Coordinates school staff efforts with curriculum development.3.Works with principals and school committees in organizing and coordinating grade level, department level, and school level meetings to affect horizontal and vertical alignment.4.Proposes and plans meetings, which present educational programs to the Board, parent groups, and other interested parties in the district.5.Coordinates communications involving curriculum guides for use by the staff.6.Establishes and maintains a library of curriculum guides and aids for staff use.7.Coordinates and oversees a curriculum review and adoption cycle in coordination with building administrators.8.Establishes, monitors, and reports on the achievements of students in relation to the educational program expectations.9.Assists and advises in budget development as it pertains to curriculum and instruction, personnel, Federal programs, and professional development.10.Coordinates and interprets teacher evaluation programs, including new teacher mentors.11.Coordinates and supervises in-service programs related to the instructional program.12.Leads, coordinates, and directs all federally funded programs within the district, except the special education programs.13.Acts as the facilitator to the SAU #62 Professional Development Committee.14.Analyzes assessment data and reviews it with school administrators.15.Provides Curriculum Notes Newsletter to staff on a monthly basis.16.Facilitates the Alternative Certification Programs.17.Shares Staff Development Opportunities with all staff.18.Provides input on grants, as needed and requested.19.Assists home schooling coordinator with curriculum issues.20.Assists in recruitment and hiring of key faculty and administrative positions.21. Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of School.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 220-day year. Salary and work year to be established by Mascoma Valley Regional School Board.EVALUATION: Annually by the Superintendent of SchoolsPHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
