JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the ECE Associate or Fully Qualified Teacher and ECE Administrator, Teacher’s Aides (TAs) are responsible for providing support to create a warm, caring, calm, orderly, safe and healthy early learning environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Early Education program. TAs are assigned to work under the direct supervision of a Teacher in a classroom with children birth through 12 years. TAs are required to provide support to the classroom teacher, completing tasks as assigned so that children receive high quality care, supervision and educational experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Graduate.
2. Current Immunizations.
3. Active Fingerprint Clearance.
4. Completion of some ECE units or enrollment in college coursework is required.
5. In order to apply to promote to a Fully Qualified Teacher position, when available, a Teacher’s Aide must obtain: 12 Child Development/ECE semester units including the Core Courses (Child Development, AND Child, Family, Community AND Curriculum) and Infant/Toddlers AND 6 months experience.
6. In order to apply to promote to an Associate Teacher position, a Teacher’s Aide must have a current permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing at the Associate Teacher level or higher AND apply for an Associate Teacher position when available.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Actively participate in training to learn about child development, age appropriate activities, health and safety.
2. Provide ideas for engaging activities that create a safe, engaging, and positive early learning environment to meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
3. Support the teacher by completing classroom tasks including but not limited to: prepping activities for the children, cleaning up after activities, diaper changing/bathroom help, nap time supervision, reading and singing with children, leading large group activities in the classroom and on the play yard.
4. Provide virtual learning opportunities daily through various methods to maintain the
5. Communicate with families in accordance with the Maryvale communication policy including but not limited to face to face, via email, video conference and telephone to monitor, inform and support families.
6. Complete 21 hours of professional development annually. Upload said professional development into the Workforce Registry as trainings/coursework are completed.
7. Attend and actively contribute to: in-services training, staff meetings, discussion groups.
8. Maintain regular records on children e.g. daily reports home, anecdotals, behavior logs. Contribute information towards the completion of DRDPs with the support of the classroom teacher.
9. Maintain confidentiality including but not limited to sharing with parents/guardians any personal information regarding children other than their own.
10. Use common sense and good judgement to act in accordance with Maryvale policy and procedure. Problem solve and make sound judgments in all areas affecting the care and supervision of the children entrusted to the care of the program. When in doubt, ask for support from the teacher or administrative team.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
