As an ELA Preschool Teacher you will be responsible for implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities to promote early learning and social development, collaborating with teachers, administration and parents, and ensuring the health and safety of children on a day-to-day basis. Serving as a lab school at Marymount, our Lead Teachers will have access to and benefit from the college campus facilities and amenities in addition to working collaboratively with students and professors to impact future educators and the field of early childhood education. Ideal candidates are experienced and qualified early childhood professionals with a strong educational vision and the ability to address the cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs of both the individual child and groups of children. Salary is targeted at $48,000-$55,000. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize and supplement the Creative Curriculum to plan and implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate, enriched, child-centered program
Engage, manage, and motivate young children with compassion, energy, and attention to detail to ensure the individual needs of each child is met
Maintain a well-kept, healthy and safe classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence
Responsible for mealtime and snack activities of the group. Monitors children closely during meals
Encourage creative and critical thinking
Positively interact and collaborate with other teachers and administrative staff
Build positive relations with parents/caregivers and communicate frequently regarding activities, development and progress
Assure all required classroom documentation and record keeping is completed in a timely manner
Attend staff meetings, teacher planning meetings, and assist in setting the goals for the ELA
Seek opportunities to grow in the field of ECE and attend professional development as required
Develop and maintain portfolios of children's developmental progress, keeping records, observations, work samples and other evidence of growth and development
Ensure that all children are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness
JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications
A bachelor's or master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
Prior teaching experience with preschoolers
Knowledge of strategies and activities appropriate to the age group.
Ability to be flexible within daily routines and schedules to capture "nurturing and teachable moments"
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to mentor teacher assistants, provide guidance, and delegate duties in a professional manner
Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with other staff members
Preferred Qualifications
Licensure/certification in early childhood or elementary education
Prior teaching experience in an NAEYC accredited program
Knowledge of Virginia licensing standards
Certifications
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
Background check
Documentation of negative TB screening/test
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and move around for long hours at a time while teach
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel as needed
