ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Repairs, maintains and trouble shoot, dairy machinery and equipment using hand tools, small power tools and measuring equipment.
· Observes and listens to machines in operation to locate cause of trouble.
· Replaces or repairs faulty parts using hand tools or power tools.
· Assembles and starts machine to test its operation.
· Replaces defective burnt fuses and repairs electrical fixtures.
· Machines worn or new metal parts using, drill press and other machine tools.
· Cuts and fuses metals to fabricate metal parts and pipes.
· Cuts pipe threads, installs and tests gas, steam, water and air pipes.
· May affix special attachments, set dies and repair belts.
· Repairs and adjusts conveyor systems using hand tools.
· Installs belts in machinery, tightens bolts, adjusts tension roll, straightens parts, aligns rollers and replaces defective parts.
· Cleans and lubricates machine parts, such as shafts, pulleys, gears and bearings using rags, brushes, grease gun and oil can.
· Repairs and maintains conveyor systems.
· Changes fitters on air compressors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High School or equivalent
· Mechanical trade knowledge
· Standard tools, material, methods and practices involved in building, maintenance and repair including electrical and safe practice.
· Follow oral and written instructions, performing skilled tasks in maintenance repair and building.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, bending reaching, handling, and talking, hearing near, mid range and far vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposed to a noise level of 90 decibels. Hazards: Moving parts, chemical burns, heat from the air compressor room (126*). Willing to work overtime and weekends. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
