MD Energy is a rapidly growing energy management company that serves some of the area’s largest businesses, including real estate owners, restaurants, and manufacturers. We provide consulting services for utilities across the United States, and we are looking for customer-centric individuals to join our team.
As the Energy Efficiency Product Manager, you will assist with the growth and expansion of the local utility’s energy efficiency products program. This program incentivizes the purchase of energy efficient Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment that conforms to high efficiency performance standards and is either part of a central (ducted) system or ductless type of equipment, targeting equipment such as Central Air Conditioners, Air Source Heat Pumps, and Natural Gas Furnaces. The program also incentivizes Heat Pump Water Heaters to increase their uptake in the market.
In your role as a Product Manager, you will develop and maintain relationships with major local, regional, and national distributors, suppliers, contractors, and manufacturers to support their participation in the program. You will provide education to employees at retail locations on the product benefits and best practices for selling products to consumers, as well as assist clients with understanding potential savings opportunities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote program awareness, educate about program processes, and encourage additional participation.
  • Conduct distributor and contractor recruitment and training.
  • Coordinate with program leadership to deliver distributor and contractor meetings, trainings, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with program partners on marketing messages.
  • Track continuous outreach and communication with distributors and contractors throughout the year.
  • Learn program processes and tools related to the midstream program and how these tools and processes are utilized by program partners.
  • Leverage reports and tools to engage with distributors and contractors, review past production, and design customized production goals per distributor.
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to log leads and interactions with applicable trade allies and partners. Meet with program staff weekly to provide updates on these interactions and coordinate outreach strategy.
  • Assist in preparation of internal and client presentations.
  • Contribute to the evolution of program strategies and the design of program features, services, and marketing campaigns.
  • Develop rapport and build relationships with distributors and external clients.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of program-supported product placements throughout the Utility Service Territory.
  • Assist with other projects and assignments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or Communications preferred but not required (or Equivalent Experience)
  • Customer-centric mindset
  • Working knowledge of or aptitude to learn about HVAC systems or products as well as heat pump water heaters.
  • Experience with the energy efficiency program market in Maryland a plus
  • One to three years of experience working with contractors and distributors working on energy efficiency programs in Maryland or experience building relationships with trade allies in similar markets
  • Intermediate experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access is essential
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, organizational and prioritization skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage deadline and projects with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong proofreading and editing skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Possess solid quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to connect quickly with others and work effectively at all levels within and outside of the organization, including vendors and business partners
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with key individuals in the industry, including utility client customers, architects, engineers, contractors, non-profit officials, and public officials to achieve project goals
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment under pressure in time-critical situations and be productive and self-motivated during slow periods
  • Ability to travel within the Utility Service Territory
  • Reliable transportation needed
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and proof of motor vehicle insurance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 years of experience in energy and energy efficiency programs or related trade experience preferred
  • Experience working on successful energy efficiency programs, with specific expertise in energy efficiency technologies and products (especially residential and C&I energy-efficient measures), as well as energy issues in existing residential, commercial, and institutional buildings
  • Strong understanding of residential and commercial energy-efficient applications, energy efficiency programs and US policies for energy efficiency
  • Certified Energy Manager, LEED, other industry certifications are a plus
