The Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is seeking dynamic, progressive candidates with a focus on delivering premier customer service with innovative ideas and solutions for the position of Driver Safety Data Analyst (Administrator II).
This position is responsible for reporting on a wide range of safety related research and statistics for internal and external agency use to include data gathering, designing, or redesigning of reports and setting up enduring reporting methods. The Driver Safety Data Analyst will review complex data to identify patterns, trends, and protentional issues that could improve safety on Maryland's roads.
The Driver Safety Data Analyst will have knowledge of data warehouse and data management principals, processes and database development. The Driver Safety Analyst will work closely with technical personnel to develop routine reporting and analysis to measure driver and vehicle safety. Proficiency with business intelligence techniques and tools for the acquisition and transformation of raw data into meaningful and useful information for research and analysis purposes to develop research reports, white papers, and safety campaign support. This individual will prepare briefings and presentations to help reduce the complexity of information so decision makers can easily understand how best to use and interpret the results for incorporation into highway safety plans and legislative initiatives.
Responsibilities include the following:
  • Developing of data analysis and research reporting. Creation of briefing materials and analysis of the internal and external data sources and information provided by partners. Results are presented to the Executive Management Team, safety groups, councils, and other interested constituents
  • Utilizing analytics techniques to develop and compile traffic records data on a routine basis to identify trends
  • Illustrating analysis and reports through briefings and contribute to the development of reporting using analytics application or platforms
  • Processing data requests and securely share data through appropriate channels, internally and externally
  • Managing and coordinate reporting for the MSHO Annual Report, MDOT's Strategic Highways Safety Plan, MHSO's Triennial Highway Safety Plan, MDOT's Attainment Report and Managing for results, Open Data Portal, Media, Public Information Act Requests (PIA), Annual Grant Application and other data requests or initiatives as needed
The current vacancy exists at the MVA Headquarters in Glen Burnie, Maryland (Anne Arundel County).
This position is a hybrid position and allows for combination of telework and in-office work. More details will be discussed during the interview process.
Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. *Two (2) years of the required experience must also include using statistical methods to develop and analyze data and create useful reports for management's interpretation and review.
A Selective Qualification recruitment is conducted for positions when there is a specific or additional bona fide occupational qualification (i.e., Knowledge, Skill, or Ability).
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
