The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is seeking a Director of Operations Compliance and Project ManagementThe ideal candidate will possess a thorough applied knowledge of project management methodologies and practices to champion and improve the structure, effectiveness, and efficiency of MDOT MTA work operations as well as ensure compliance with laws, standards, regulations, and policies.This position requires a highly competent professional with experience in overseeing a project management team. This is a senior-level position responsible for guiding and supporting the work of other supervisors and providing strategic thinking and insight to senior leadership.

The Director of Operations Compliance and Project Management impacts the MTA's organizational success by:

-Overseeing the Operations and Compliance Project management department

-Directing the development of innovative approaches to organizational challenges

-Providing executive leadership with objective-based information

-Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver solutions

This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer of Operations and has frequent contact and collaboration with other senior and executive management at MDOT MTA.

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Preferable degrees include project management, planning, finance, or related fields.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Eight (8) years of relevant project management, transportation compliance, and management experience with at least three (3) years in a role supervising a program or multiple staff. Program management, compliance management, or relevant government agency experience is also preferred.

Note:U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.

The ideal candidate will be thoroughly abreast of the transportation/transit trends, transit initiatives, and emerging transit projects globally, nationally and within the local communities. The focus is on a leader with experience in organizational turnaround and program expansion within the public sector.
